NIPPERS

The nippers programme is designed for children aged from 5 to 13 years of age to teach them essential water safety skills, surf awareness and lifesaving techniques in a fun and engaging environment, when visiting our beautiful ocean beaches.

We do this through a structured programme of lessons provided by Surf Life Saving Australia. Nippers also provides an environment for children to learn teamwork, build self-confidence and to acquire strong club and community values.

We promote an active lifestyle and provide numerous opportunities to develop water and beach skills, and to improve overall fitness.

Nippers at Warriewood is usually held each Sunday morning from 10.00am through to 11.30am, followed by a barbecue (from time to time we run a special twilight nippers). Our nippers will participate in beach events including flags and sprints. For those aged 9 and over, there is strongly supervised surf skills programme encompassing swimming and surf rescue training boards (conditions permitting).

Warriewood also supports those nippers wishing to compete in carnivals, and strongly encourages everyone to have fun.

How, Where & When

Please visit our registrations page for all membership information, including fees.

For those wishing to visit the club in person we will be holding an Information and Registration Day at the Warriewood Surf Club between 10am and 2pm on Sunday, 15 September 2024.

The nippers season for 2024/2025 will run for 20 weeks in total. The first term will commence on Sunday, 20 October through to Sunday, 21 December where we finish with a Christmas party. We then recommence on Sunday, 19 January 2025 through to Sunday, 23 March 2025.

Warriewood is a Family Club

Warriewood is also known as the “family club”. While our nippers are participating in the surf lifesaving programme, we also cater for younger siblings with supervised beach events and for those older teenagers, we run a structured Cadet programme for 15-17 year olds. Warriewood has a successful cadet programme, which provides a unique, tailored environment for teenagers to be together, stay connected and enjoy the beach.

Parents & Family Involvement

Parents are required to stay on the beach with their kids during the nippers sessions and we always welcome and encourage those parents wishing to become more involved in the club to do so.

There are opportunities to assist with or to become an Age Manager, help out with beach and water set ups, assist with our weekly BBQ, social events, junior committee or go the next step and train for your Bronze Medallion. With this, you will be able to be part of our Water Safety team in the surf at nippers and of course, become a patrolling member. This is a great example of community involvement and achievement and a fun way to stay fit.

Wazza Club Swim

This swim is held every Sunday at 9.30am for all club members (conditions permitting). Come along and participate in our handicapped event of varying distances each week. Plenty of water safety on hand for those not so confident but looking to develop their skills and enjoy a swim.

Nippers Performance Squad

Is your child interested in competing at surf lifesaving carnivals? There are a number of junior carnivals held throughout the season catering for either sand or water events. We will run training sessions on Sunday mornings before nippers – times to be confirmed.

Feel free to register your interest by speaking to your child’s Age Manager or the Nipper President for more information.
